La Madonna di Montevergine or "Mamma Schiavona," a Black Madonna from the outskirts of Naples who legend says saved a gay couple from death after they had been attacked by a mob. She is now seen as a protector of LGBTQ people and is venerated by the third gender femminielli of Naples.
